Does Tart Cherry Juice Help With Memory? Study Finds

Mental Health News

A team of researchers at the University of Delaware explored if tart cherry juice help with memory problems. The study is published in the journal Food & Function.

The Study

To understand better if tart cherry juice improves cognitive functioning, the researchers recruited 37 adults, aged 65–80 years, with normal cognitive function.

They were randomly assigned to consume two cups of Montmorency tart cherry juice for 12 weeks. At the end of the period, they had to complete a subjective memory questionnaire and a series of cognitive tests.

The Findings

The results revealed that tart cherry juice helps your brain health and prevents cognitive impairment. In fact, tart cherry juice can lower systolic blood pressure (BP) and improve inflammatory and oxidative stress status in older adults. This betters cognitive abilities and reduces the risks of memory disorders.
