A groundbreaking study has revealed that a minimum of 60,000 adolescents in the United Kingdom have endured post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Pioneering research indicates that approximately one in thirteen individuals under the age of 18 has been affected by this debilitating condition.
Experts from Kings College London conducted the study, which unveiled that one-third of teenagers had encountered traumatic events in their lives, often involving death, injury, or sexual assaults.
The research, published in The Lancet Psychiatry, analyzed over 2,000 children born between 1994 and 1995. It revealed that a total of 7.8% experienced PTSD before reaching the age of 18.
The primary indicators of PTSD include the following symptoms:
1. Recurrent flashbacks or nightmares.
2. Trying to keep busy and avoiding thinking about it.
