Mental Health Support: A Lifeline for Children and Families
CINCINNATI — Two local organizations have joined forces to provide vital mental health support for young people, ensuring they have the resources to thrive.
“We are here to serve our kids, and we want to help them reach their best potential,” said Caroline Hils, manager of school-based behavioral counseling at Best Point Education & Behavioral Health.
Previously known as the Children’s Home of Cincinnati, the campus on Madison Road is now home to Best Point Education & Behavioral Health.
“We are still serving kids in our community,” Hils emphasized.
While children no longer reside on the campus, the impact of the services provided continues to be life-changing. Mental health support remains at the core of their mission, offering children and families the tools they need to navigate challenges.
A Legacy of Mental Health Support and Care
“The core of our work has not changed,” Hils said.
About three years ago, the Children’s Home of Cincinnati and St. Aloysius Orphanage merged to create Best Point Education & Behavioral Health. This collaboration was driven by a shared commitment to strengthening mental health support for children and their families.
“Mental health has been ingrained in both organizations for over 150 years. They each have a long-standing history of working with children and families to strengthen their well-being,” Hils explained.
Expanding Mental Health Support for More Families
Today, Best Point serves more than 13,000 children and families, offering education and behavioral health services. For some, this campus is their school.
“Whether it’s due to behavioral or learning needs, we provide a small, supportive environment that highlights their strengths and helps them grow,” Hils said.
Beyond school-based services, the organization extends its reach through outpatient counseling, care coordination, and various mental health support services. These services ensure that children and their families have access to the right tools to foster emotional and psychological growth.
“We witness vulnerable and challenging moments, but we also serve as cheerleaders, advocating and supporting these children every step of the way,” Hils added.
The importance of mental health support cannot be overstated. Children facing behavioral or emotional difficulties often require structured, compassionate intervention. Best Point ensures that every child has access to high-quality care tailored to their individual needs.
Why Mental Health Support Matters
Providing mental health support to children at a young age can make a significant difference in their development. When children receive proper care and guidance, they are better equipped to handle stress, communicate effectively, and succeed academically and socially.
Best Point is dedicated to ensuring that no child is left behind. Their programs focus on nurturing strengths, building confidence, and offering a safe space for children to express their emotions. With a comprehensive approach that includes therapy, counseling, and education, Best Point continues to be a leader in mental health support for youth.
