What Is Psychopathy?

Psychopathy is a mental health condition that is characterized by superficial charm, lack of empathy, high intelligence, poor judgment, pathological lying behavior when others are in pain, detachment, and a lack of remorse after engaging in rule-violating behavior.

People with these traits are found to have juvenile delinquent behavior, several events of acquisition in police custody, repeated engagement to promiscuous sexual behavior, manipulating others for stimulation of objects, and many other instances are found among people with psychopathic traits.

The causes of Psychopathy stem from both genetic and environmental sources. Early research suggested psychopathy often stems from poor parent-child attachment which is associated with emotional deprivation, parental rejection, and a lack of affection.

Apart from these children with serious behavioral problems may end up with attachment issues and their misconduct might lead their caregivers away from them.
